Tobias Kruse: Deponie
Deponie is a publication by photographer Tobias Kruse, exploring feelings of fear, anger and aggression in contemporary East German society, reminiscent of Tobias’ own youth, growing up in 1990s East Germany after the fall of the Berlin Wall. The title Deponie (Deposit) refers to the toxic-waste dump Ihlenberg near the city of Schwerin, where both the former Eastern and Western Governments would dispose of their toxic waste.
The newspaper format publication, both edited, designed and published by HelloMe, breathes new life into one of the most disposable forms of print publishing. This limited, signed and numbered edition is published on the occasion of a series of exhibitions held at Deichtorhallen Hamburg, Fotoforum Frankfurt and FOAM Amsterdam.
